Have no fear, Robbie V…..I’m sure that is just around the corner…

but until then…

...If I ever played with the strings of your mind, you should see me searching for the ground now…

..if you’re remaining, tell them I tried to set things right. They might believe you….....

...she waves her hands, explains her travel plans…(this song is incredible, and I agree with SS…I want to hear it live again…)

I have to say one of my favorite Non- MW lyrics has to be Todd Rundgren’s:

...It wouldn’t really make any difference…. if you loved me…you just didn’t love me ...enough to believe me…. enough not to leave me….enough not to look for….. a reason to be…. unhappy with me…. and make me forget ever wanting you…...........but those days are through…..

That’s a masterpiece!

“She gave me green planets and worlds/to hang around my head like pearls.”

Yes! I love that one. Across the Universe came out about the time I discovered Fimo clay, so I made a necklace that had each planet of the solar system, and wore it with a silk shirt. Ha! Trip Chic.

I’d have to put “he played guitar like a master, but faster” somewhere near the top, but perhaps my favorite is not a lyric at all: “coo coo coo coo (laughing) coo coo coo coo” from “Bonneville.” That’s my all time favorite Matt song.

I love the laughing on Bonneville! And I’m sure we all want this necklace now.

that’s crap, you guys get more than one favorite???

fine, I like Pearle in it’s ENTIRETY.

edit

But the Lake is a very interesting song too. The 1rst person narrative by the pike fish is engaging. The pike fish is introduced by telling you hes watching a bird, since he doesn’t want to be eaten by him. And since he’s watching the bird, he sees the gull, who sees the pair “meet there when they please”. And then the woman in the pair looks in the water, and sees the fish!! It gets heavy when matt and dan start barking questions at him. Then, as he wins over the chorus, they alternatively rap up the narritve in a neat little package and end the chorus. Matt is brilliant!

The 1rst person narrative by the pike fish is engaging. The pike fish is introduced by telling you hes watching a bird, since he doesn’t want to be eaten by him. And since he’s watching the bird, he sees the gull, who sees the pair “meet there when they please”.

I took another listen because I didn’t remember a gull. I think the word you’re hearing is “goes” and it is no more than a menage a trois. (smile) It is heavy, though: “Oh, northern, is your eye so bright, you can see a home breaking on the shore tonight.”

The next song, “The Swing,” is my all-time second favorite because of the music and the three-way singing. No idea what the lyrics are about, though. “Ring now, ding dang, bells of the world.”

Funny.  I got the idea when the lyric says, “I see these two, the pair” that there are only 2 people.  Maybe it’s just me.

She’s meeting one man at the lake, and leaving the other at home. But the pike is so smart that he “knows of the man she leaves.” That’s one perceptive pike, you have to admit.
