Now when he posted that, we had already begun desecrating the sacred WYBF, but I kept that challenge in mind all the way through, and I say we triumphed. Trip Shakespeare’s WYBF is elegant and wistful, and flowery. Our version is rocking, delightful, bouncy and danceable, but remains lovely, thanks to the Wild House Birds. There, I just gave a glowing review of our own project. Tacky, huh? Can’t help it, I love this thing.
But what do you say Psh, did we meet the challenge?
I think you did, and well. I thought you might have had that challenge in mind as I listened to your tune, but didn’t want to presume as much. I’m honored and thrilled to have been part of it, if only as a notion in the back of your mind.
Did everybody see the photo of the Slacks on the Mystery page of tripshakespeare.com? I just thought that those guys remind me of Spike and Dr. Neau! Maybe that could be your new band logo!
An excellent job all the way around. Makes me want to do my take on If You Miss Me, but I’ll probably need to think about it for 3 more months before I start it.
I love it! I always visualize shades of green and gray when I hear this song—sad and searching. And now, you’ve added yellow! But the la las are ethereal and longing—a great contrast to the overall tone.
Most of all, I love the way you bring these most beloved songs back to us in new ways. Long live Lulu. And Floyer Dog, I’ll be waiting for “If You Miss Me.” Three months is nothing. We’re Matt Wilson fans, remember?
Why did I think a gauntlet was a drinking vessel? Anyway…my paper is due Thursday, so I’m working hard to include as many Matt Wilson references as possible….hehehehe….
The pillage of Necklace. The Applehead songs are top notch IMO.
Who is Whisper Kiss? Who did this?? Its freakin great? But i took the huge liberty of editing out 60 seconds of it. I had the uptempo part come in a couple measures or bars early and i thought the “ah ah ah” hook shouldnt have been over used (2x) before the end (orgasm) of the song. So i edited that out.
It was cool cuttin out stuff and having it sound good. Audacity it awesome.
Thats exactly the kinda pillage i would do if i could. I wanted a trip song to sound like Yo La Tengos covered. These guys even sound like Yo La Tengo and reworked in the same way id expect YLT. And you all know i love YLT
Geez Heisenberg! What are you doing? You can’t just take somebody else’s music and change it to sound how you think it should sound, and then post that on the inter… uh… hmmmmm.
