Tonight at the Nomad

Happy Holidays, my lovelies!
I always enjoy these shows around Thanksgiving and Kwanzaa because there is charity in the air. We’re all family here, right? And I will let the quality slide grievously. Ahhhh! If you’re wandering down to the Nomad this evening, do not expect a professional performance. Expect something much, much less!
Also, sadly, do not expect Keyboard Maestro Dave Salmela to be in attendance tonight providing twinkly highlights up here, and barrel house bass down there. His absence has been excused, and he will be sorely missed. However, the lack of Dave, and the all-bets-are-off nature of all holiday-style shows opens the door for me to rock the ELECTRIC GUITAR tonight. That’s right, even though my amplification license has long since lapsed, I will be fully plugged in tonight and armed with all the noise-making capabilities of a real electric guitar player. I will try not to abuse my power.
Now, listen all you YouTubers: Stop all your YouTubery! I do not want any of my electric guitar fumbling to be captured for posterity and played back to my children when I’m old and gray. Videos from tonight will be classified as HIGH SCOUNDREL-LEVEL NAUGHTINESS! Do you really want to be a high scoundrel? Don’t answer!
Anyway, though the Nomad has a few drawbacks, bless it’s heart, shows there do have a nice warm gangs-all-here vibe. I look forward to seeing some of you tonight for some music and perhaps a few drinks. Blessings upon you!

Let the electrified axe rip, tonight! I don’t really want to hear what the extended clan has to say over the Thanksgiving repast anyway.
In case any of you implicated by that last sentence read this, it was a joke. Please don’t disown me over a simple joke. I’m counting on an inheritance. Please.

Good Lord! You really don’t know me at all, do you? The one & only factor that could guarantee my recording and uploading a tinny sounding, shaky panned version of your quality slide is your personal yet public forbidding! Do you even know what the moniker “Spike” stands for? And yet, all I’ve ever dreamed of wanting, even more than the verboten liner notes or confirmation of my QOT theory, is to hear these songs plugged in and blaring by the tool master’s axe. Damn you Wilson! Vexed in your paradox, with Psh as my witness, I will resist. Btw, “Good Lord” was an exclamation, not a salutation.

In the name of charity, for God’s sake, please upload to YouTube. You’ll recall that some of us are in Nebraska, not in the lovely Twin Towns, and we, too, deserve a good Thanksgiving. Just use the parental blocks, Matt. Wait until they ask what it means that you wore the slacks….

I too feel like poking fun since a word such as “YouTubery” has been coined but, really, let keep it serious. Matt, you must know that it’s these brief, captured moments that keep your loyal fans engaged through all of our times apart (and there’s been some time apart over the years!)
Besides, when you’re old and gray, everyone will have forgotten about you anyway…

Watch out, Spike. You’ve thrown some pretty tempting flakes into the golfish bowl that is this site. Your flag waving about QOT theories and enigmatic monikers might prove to be too tempting and convert we goldfish into ravenous sharks. This is a friendly place, but be forewarned. ;)

Okay, Spike…since you bowed down to the Wilson’s edict of “no YouTubery” (gosh, that’s funny)...perhaps you can reveal liner notes for your moniker…and / or your QOT theory….
